Svanehøj, a specialist in marine pumps and tank measurement systems, strengthens its position within critical gas equipment with the acquisition of the family-owned German company KOHO Kompressorsysteme.

KOHO employs 40 people and has developed high-quality compressors for a number of industries, including shipbuilding, for almost 80 years.

Søren Kringelholt Nielsen, CEO of Svanehøj, calls the acquisition a "completely natural expansion", as the company already supplies pumps and tank measurement systems for gas tankers:

- With KOHO, we are expanding our scope so that we can now also supply the compressors that handle the gas during navigation. At the same time, we gain access to important spare parts that we need in our service business. It is a highly specialized field, where only very few companies in the world can participate, he says.

KOHO, which has a factory in Hagen, specializes in customer-specific piston compressors for demanding gases such as hydrogen and methane, as well as gas-tight bulkhead penetrations, which are important for safety on tankers and industrial plants, among other things.

The company will continue under the management of the Hörter family, and the facilities in Hagen will in future constitute Svanehøj's competence center for compressor technology.

- The change of ownership is a great opportunity to take our company to the next level. Our compressors will now become part of a broader portfolio of solutions that support the gas infrastructure of the future, says Björn Hörter, Managing Director at KOHO Kompressorsysteme.

The acquisition of KOHO is Svanehøj's second in 2025. Earlier this year, the company took over European Pump Services B.V. (EPS) in the Netherlands.
