Wage earners and employers agree on wages for 850,000 employees

FH and DA have reached an agreement on a mediation outline that will be voted on by both parties shortly.

This year's collective bargaining negotiations have reached the point where there is white smoke. The Danish Employers' Association (DA) and the Danish Trade Union Confederation (FH) have agreed on a joint mediation outline.

This is stated by FH in a press release, where FH chairman Morten Skov Christiansen says that he is proud of an agreement with higher wages and more pensions for 850,000 employees.

After the parties have now reached agreement on a joint mediation outline, only the last major step in this year's collective bargaining negotiations remains. This happens when members on both sides must vote yes or no to the result that the parties have achieved.

A mediation outline typically contains the settlements that have already been reached, a mediation outline for the areas where the parties cannot agree, and some common provisions for all collective agreements in the DA and FH area. After this, conciliator Jan Reckendorff will write a final mediation proposal, which will be sent to the members for a vote.

All collective agreements will be voted on together, and if it ends with a yes, the new three-year collective agreements will come into force retroactively from 1 March 2025.

The vast majority of the collective agreements in the area had been negotiated and put in place before FH and DA met at the Conciliation Institution on Thursday morning to tie the last things together. There was agreement on collective agreements for 99 per cent of the employees. According to DA CEO Jacob Holbraad, this is historic.

When voting on the overall mediation outline, the entire mediation outline will be put to a vote. This means that even if individual areas vote down the agreement, only the overall result counts. If it ends with a yes, the new collective agreements will apply retroactively from March 1. Voting will begin in the affected organizations on March 25, and the result will be available on April 9, FH informs.

The collective agreement negotiations were launched in earnest with the industry parties, CO-Industri and Dansk Industri, just after the New Year. On February 9, they were able to sign an agreement together that will increase the minimum wage from DKK 136.15 to a total of DKK 146.90 over three years.

The settlement in the industry area is normally considered a breakthrough settlement that will set the stage for the other negotiations. With the industry agreement, employees can look forward to more freedom, higher pension contributions, more pay and more maternity leave.
