Poland's willingness to turn its back on fossil fuels shines through during a royal Danish visit to the country. King Frederik says this to Ritzau during a three-day business promotion in the country.

- Poland has shown a willingness to move on from being based on one to two energy sources, says King Frederik.

The visit comes at a time when Poland is on the verge of initiating a comprehensive green transition. The country's new government, led by former EU President Donald Tusk, certainly has great ambitions to create a greener future. Poland is currently a major exporter of coal in particular, and the vast majority of the country's own energy consumption is based on fossil fuels. Here, Danish companies will try to bring their expertise to the negotiating table.

- Denmark has come a long way on its own territory in switching from fossil fuels to, for example, wind energy, says King Frederik and explains:

- These types of energy sources have proven to be scalable, and we would like to offer this to Poland, which is one of our important trading partners.

This is the third time that the King has participated in a business promotion in Poland. It has happened twice previously as Crown Prince. Since 2019, when the most recent visit took place, the international community has been thrown into a storm. In the wake of Russia's invasion of Ukraine in early 2022, there was a period of skyrocketing energy prices, and suddenly the talk about the EU's dependence on Russian gas was very topical.

- This has helped to accelerate Poland's desire to become less dependent on a few energy sources and try to spread out to wind energy in the northern part of the country, says the King.

He has also noticed what is being talked about for energy sources in central Poland, where the visit is now taking place.

- In this part of the country, there is a lot of talk about biogas, where the opportunities in connection with agriculture and cattle farming will be used, it is said.

During the King's visit to Poland, the focus will largely be on energy efficiency and climate-friendly agriculture. Danish companies will use the push to enter into agreements in these areas. The visit takes place from Wednesday to Friday.
