FREDERICIA: An ongoing tax case between wind turbine giant Ørsted and the state could end up expensive for Fredericia Municipality, where Ørsted is headquartered. This is reported by TV Syd.
The dispute is about whether Ørsted's income from British wind turbine projects should be taxed in England or in Denmark. If the state loses the case, which is an international arbitration, Fredericia Municipality could be ordered to immediately pay the millions that Ørsted has paid in taxes back to the company.
The tax amount amounts to 350 million. DKK, and as a consequence of the possible bill, Fredericia Municipality decided earlier this year to sell 14 percent of the municipally owned port company ADP. The purpose of the sale was to create a safety net for the municipality, and the sale went to the Canadian giant Brookfield, which invested DKK 700 million.
