A cable fault at Radius is the reason why a number of municipalities in the capital cannot supply heat to thousands of citizens on Tuesday.

The incineration plant Vestforbrænding simply lacks power, and therefore the plant is turned off.  Vestforbrænding informs TV 2 Kosmopol.

According to Christopher Mortensen, who is head of press and public affairs at Vestforbrænding, they do not yet have an overview of how many district heating customers are affected. But he tells TV 2 Kosmopol that there are thousands of customers.

Vestforbrænding supplies district heating to the seven municipalities of Herlev, Egedal, Frederikssund, Ballerup, Lyngby-Taarbæk, Furesø and Gladsaxe.

The lack of power at the large incineration plant also means that the handling of tons of waste has been redirected for the time being.

Initially, the expectation was that power would be restored to Vestforbrænding again at 1 p.m. However, a new report now estimates that it will not happen until 8 p.m.

This is the message from Radius, which supplies power to Vestforbrænding, and therefore also their cables, in which the problems initially arose.

This is stated by Philip Brønnum Olesen, Media Relations Manager at Radius, to TV 2 Kosmopol.

- In our repair work, we have in the meantime found that there are several errors on Radius' cables to the site, and therefore our estimate now is that Vestforbrænding will be re-supplied at 8 p.m., says Philip Brønnum Olesen,

After this, it will take around three more hours before there is heat in the district heating pipes. So around midnight the heat should be back at the customers.
