Better Energy has withdrawn from plans for a 341-hectare solar cell project at Svanemosen south of Kolding. This means that Kolding Municipality will now stop work on the project. According to an email from municipal director Merete Dissing to the members of the city council, which the newspaper has gained access to, Better Energy has announced that the company is not able to enter into binding agreements and therefore cannot continue work on the project in Kolding Syd. The landowners in the area have been informed of the decision. It writes JydskeVestkysten.
Better Energy has been undergoing financial reconstruction as a result of a slowdown in the renewable energy market, which has made it difficult to find investors for large projects. The company has, however, received the support of its creditors for a reconstruction plan that will ensure future operations and financial stability.
"The status is that Better Energy is unable to enter into binding agreements due to the situation, and is therefore unable to continue working with the project in Kolding Syd at this time. Against this background, we therefore no longer consider the overall project, Kolding Syd, to be an active project, and our work with and dialogue on the solar cell project ends here," writes municipal director Merete Dissing in the email to politicians.
However, the other parts of the project, which include a climate lowland project and groundwater protection, will continue with the Danish Nature Agency and Trefor Vand as responsible actors.
