NRGreen is currently building Sorø Solar Park, an 11 MW solar and 5 MW battery storage facility that will supply green electricity to businesses and provide system services to Energinet.
The park is designed to balance the difference between electricity production and consumption by storing solar energy during the day and delivering it back to the grid when needed. This enables the facility to contribute to frequency regulation, among other things, and thus support the electrified society.
The project is made up of several sub-projects with different owners, which, according to NRGreen, demonstrates growing interest in combining sustainability with returns.
- We are proud to realize a project that not only produces renewable energy, but also contributes to balancing energy consumption. Battery storage is the key to the energy system of the future, and the combination with solar energy gives us new opportunities to deliver both power and flexibility, says Andrew Peck, CEO of NRGreen.
Sorø Solar Park is being built as a Wild with Will project, where the area will be landscaped with flower meadows and habitats for animals and insects to support local biodiversity.
The first part of the facility is expected to be completed within the next 2-3 months.
