Homeowner Rasmus Rønbjerg Kjær was about to get solar cells as a neighbor in the village of Skovsgaarde, when the company Obton wanted to build a solar cell park on the neighboring field.
- As soon as the weather is good, we'll be sitting out here, and that would really improve the view, he notes.
Obton offered to buy the couple's house, but the contract was so complicated that they hired a lawyer. The advice revealed that the house would be tied to the project for at least four years - even if it never came to fruition. Det%20skriver%20DR.dk writes.
- A lot can happen in four years, and suddenly we would be locked in this way to a project that the municipality didn't even know about. It felt very unsafe, says Rasmus Rønbjerg Kjær.
Obton writes that the agreements are voluntary and that they recommend legal advice.
- Sales agreements are an offer to ensure that the owner can sell his property if the project is built, and since they are legal documents that must meet certain requirements, we always encourage the parties to use an advisor in the process to ensure the right assistance, writes Jacob Bonde, associate director at Greenfield Development.
The contract also included a confidentiality clause.
- There is no one who is going to come and take my freedom of expression away from me, says Rasmus Rønbjerg Kjær.
Obton states that this wording has now been removed from their standard contracts.
- It should of course be up to each individual citizen whether they want to support the project, and we have therefore decided to completely remove the previous wording in question from our standard contracts for to ensure that there is no doubt about it, writes Jacob Bonde.
