Climate Minister called in for consultation on delays in Energinet

Climate Minister Lars Aagaard (M) has been summoned to a consultation about the massive delays in the state-owned company Energinet. According to access to documents that Finans has received, 141 out of 179 projects are delayed by the start of 2025 – corresponding to 79 percent. This is significantly more than the figures previously presented. This has prompted the Conservatives, the Unity List and the Socialist Party to summon the minister.

- We are summoning the minister to a consultation because we need to get to the bottom of who knew what and when. What did the minister know? Was the minister aware that there were more delays than those that the whole case was based on? And if the minister and the ministry had that knowledge, why hasn't it reached us, says Leila Stockmarr, a member of the Danish Parliament for the Unity List.

The criticism builds on the spring case, where the minister approved that a press release about delays in 98 projects was not sent out. At that time, he was met with harsh criticism from the opposition and was close to losing his position, but survived after a dramatic course of events in the Danish Parliament. The new information shows that the problems are even greater than when the case first affected the minister. The Conservatives, the Unity List and the SF now want clarity on when the ministry and the minister themselves became aware of the extensive delays, and why the figure was not shared with the rapporteurs of the Danish Parliament. Several parties are also demanding an impartial investigation into Energinet's work.
