The solar energy project Vust Holme Solar Park in Fjerritslev has now been put into operation. The solar park is owned by Hofor, the Capital Region's Utility Company, which has built the park in close collaboration with the project developer GreenGo Energy Group. Hofor states this in a press release.
The new solar park is 29 MWp and has an expected annual production of 36 GWh, equivalent to supplying green electricity to 9,000 households. The park is built on 47.8 hectares of leased, former agricultural land.
Hofor and GreenGo Energy have had a great focus on nature in connection with the construction of the park. This can be seen, among other things, in the fact that the solar park is surrounded by trees and shrubs, which are intended to block visibility and minimize the visual impact on the surroundings. Inside the park, grass and wild flowers grow under and between the solar panels, which helps to strengthen biodiversity. The plant growth on the area will be kept in check by grazing sheep.
- Solar energy is playing an increasingly important role in Hofor's energy production. That is why we are investing in building solar parks around the country. We attach great importance to our projects taking the environment, the local population and biodiversity into account. We have had a good collaboration with GreenGo Energy and Jammerbugt Municipality to ensure this, and we are very pleased with the positive reception the project has received in the local area, says project manager Bo Fisker Pedersen from Hofor. He also emphasizes an additional advantage of agricultural land now becoming "energy land."
- The solar park is built on former agricultural land, which is especially good for the aquatic environment, because we are completely eliminating the use of pesticides/fertilizers on a large area, currently 47.8 hectares. This reduces the risk that nitrogen and environmentally harmful substances can end up in the aquatic environment.
Jammerbugt Municipality is also satisfied with the new solar park.
- As a municipality, we are already in the top 5 nationally with a production of green electricity from sun and wind, which is double our own consumption. With the commissioning of Vust Holme Solar Park, we are pleased to be able to lay the groundwork for even more green electricity, which also benefits biodiversity and the aquatic environment in the area, says Mayor of Jammerbugt Municipality Mogens Gade (V).
