Former CEO of Energinet Peder Østermark Andreasen has been on the board of directors of Ukraine's largest energy company, the system operator Ukrenergo, since 2018. But now he and another board member have decided to leave their positions in protest against the fact that Ukrenergo's board voted on Monday to fire the company's CEO Volodymyr Kudrytskyj. A decision that the Dane is against, and has now taken the consequences, writes DR.
The reason for the CEO's firing was that he had not done enough to protect the Ukrainian energy infrastructure. However, this is not the case, believes Peder Østermark Andreasen, who points out that billions have been invested in security measures. He instead points to political interference, as he believes that the Minister of Energy Herman Galushtchenko has been dissatisfied.
- In such an old Eastern European system, one is used to the one with the most stars on his shoulder deciding. But he doesn't - Kudrytskyj (the fired director, ed.) insisted on political independence, says Peder Østermark Andreasen.
