The US House of Representatives has passed US President Donald Trump's major legislation package. It was voted through by a narrow majority with the votes of 218-214. This is reported by the news agency Reuters.
Now the legislation package only needs to be signed by Trump before it is finally adopted. The adoption is a major victory for the US president, as it is considered a top priority for him.
According to Reuters, the legislation package will finance Trump's tightening of immigration policy in the country and make his tax cuts from 2017 permanent. In addition, it will introduce new tax benefits that he promised during his election campaign in 2024. This will make it possible for him to fulfill an election promise. This applies to exemption from taxes on both tips and overtime. The legislative package also includes cuts in national food aid and in health care efforts, as well as the abolition of several subsidies for renewable energy, and instead creates incentives for more fossil energy.
However, the proposal was not as bad as previously feared for, for example, the American wind industry, as an earlier draft of the law indicated. This has meant that Vestas in particular, but also Ørsted, have experienced large increases in the stock market in recent days, although against a background of equally large declines.
