The schedule is progressing for the large PtX project in Esbjerg

The Parliament recently agreed on an agreement regarding the hydrogen infrastructure in Denmark, which is to be handled by Energinet and Evida. Although the agreement is a milestone and causes joy in several places in the hydrogen industry, it has nevertheless been delayed for so long that it has consequences for the schedule of at least one large PtX project.

Thus, H2 Energy has had to admit that their plans to open a hydrogen factory at a total cost of up to 7.5 billion DKK in Veldbæk near Esbjerg by 2026 at the latest is not realistic.

- So far, we have invested around DKK 200 million in project development and preparatory work. But we haven't started yet, and the plan that we should be in production in 2025-2026 is not going to last, says Rasmus Bach Nielsen, who is a working board member of H2 Energy, according to JudskeVestkysten to Berlingske and continues:

- We are working purposefully towards being up and running by 2027 at the latest. For us, it is not so much about the technology, and now that the EU rules are in place, we should be able to get started quickly. But for us, it stands and falls with the Danish hydrogen infrastructure coming into place as well as the economics surrounding their use. No hydrogen tubes means no green hydrogen on a large scale.
