FREDERIKSHAVN: It was entirely reasonable that lawyer Karsten Madsen sent an invoice of 175,000 kroner for his work for the Port of Frederikshavn in a property transaction. Frederikshavn Municipality must therefore pay the lawyer that fee, the Bar Council has ruled in a ruling after Frederikshavn Municipality complained about the lawyer's fee to the Bar Council on 27 September last year. This is reported by TV2 Nord.

The complaint came a few days after the municipality had summoned Karsten Madsen from the law firm HjulmandKaptain, the former port director Mikkel Seedorff Sørensen and the former chairman of the Port of Frederikshavn, Bo Uggerhøj in a case regarding the sale of several properties between the Port of Frederikshavn and the scrapyard M.A.R.S. in 2019.

A deal that the Municipality of Frederikshavn believes the former port director entered into illegally, as they do not believe that the then board of the Port of Frederikshavn approved the deal, and that lawyer Karsten Madsen, among other things, provided inadequate advice in connection with the transactions being registered. Therefore, the lawyer was also summoned in the disputed case, and the municipality refused to pay the bill of 175,000 kroner that he sent for his work in connection with the property transactions.
