Correction: It appeared from an earlier version that Kurt Kirkedal Jensen had been mayor of Frederikshavn Municipality, but he has previously been mayor of the former Skagen Municipality.

Former member of the city council in Frederikshavn and prominent member of the Social Democrats Kurt Kirkedal Jensen (S) demands that municipal director Thomas Eriksen be removed from his post after the developments surrounding the finances of Frederikshavn Harbour. This is reported by TV2 Nord.

- I do not believe that Thomas Eriksen has fulfilled his responsibility to the entire city council, and a new one is needed, says Kurt Kirkedal Jensen, who has previously been mayor of Skagen.

He emphasizes that the entire city council in 2013/2014 was behind the decision to expand the port, but at the same time criticizes the administration's level of information.

According to Kurt Kirkedal Jensen, the city council was not sufficiently informed at the time – including about an early assessment from Ernst & Young, which warned about the port's finances.

A legal investigation has since exonerated both the municipal director and the administration of legal liability, but Jensen does not believe that it takes into account the political and administrative process.

Municipal director Thomas Eriksen rejects the criticism and refers to the assessment from Ernst & Young from before his appointment. He adds that the statements affect him personally, but acknowledges that a vote of no confidence can always be raised in the city council.
