Bornholm Regional Municipality is putting a number of tasks related to Energiø Bornholm on hold. This comes after a political majority decided on Thursday evening to scale back efforts while the state awaits the next step in the large offshore wind turbine project. This is reported by TV2 Bornholm.
According to the agenda for the municipal council meeting, the development of a business park in the area between the villages of Aakirkeby and Arnager will be put on hold. This also means that the public hearing on the designation of areas will be postponed.
– This process is considered difficult to implement with the current uncertainty about the project and is therefore proposed to be put on hold, the agenda reads.
At the same time, the municipality is maintaining a number of activities. The dialogue with ministries and agencies such as the Danish Energy Agency, Energinet and the Ministry of Business and Industry continues, as does the partnership with the government on the Business Lighthouse project, which will position Bornholm as a center for green energy in the Baltic Sea.
Mayor Jacob Trøst supports the decision and points out that it is still necessary to maintain momentum in certain parts of the work.
– Everything in the government's and the EU's objectives speaks for the energy island becoming something. So it is important that the tasks are not put on hold, says Jacob Trøst (C), mayor of the Bornholm Regional Municipality.
The municipality also keeps the door open to initiating new tasks during the period if they are assessed to be able to strengthen the long-term work with Energy Island Bornholm.
