At Dynamica Ropes in Taulov, ISO 9001 has been a game changer since the certification became part of the company's culture. The decision was made on a highway.

CEO and owner of Dynamica Ropes in Taulov, Jørgen Sørensen, is a calm and thoughtful man. There is no CEO-like swagger or boasting, even though he has built the company from scratch with the production of fishing nets and ropes since 1995.

Today, there are almost 200 employees in Denmark and Lithuania. But when the conversation turns to ISO 9001, you can clearly understand that it has been a landmark decision for Dynamica Ropes.

- It is one of the best decisions we have made. Without that certification, we would not be able to deliver to the major customers, says Jørgen Sørensen.

The company supplies lifting slings and other equipment to both the major players in the oil, gas and wind turbine industries. Here, the certifications are simply a requirement for the sake of quality assurance. But we only have to go back to 2015 to find the day the decision was made. It was a day when the business owner was out driving.

- We had been considering ISO 9001 for a while, and then I was out driving on the highway one day. Then I saw a car from a timber company that had ISO 9001. So I thought, if a small timber company can do it, we can too, says Jørgen Sørensen, who has a huge smile on his face about that decision.

Saves conflicts

It didn't take long before Force Technology was contacted and work on the certification started.

- All our processes were documented, because it is a quality assurance system. We got the certification within six months, during which an engineer was also hired, says Jørgen Sørensen.

Dynamica Rope's sales manager Kate Christensen has a comparison that most people can nod in recognition to.

- It's like grandma's good cake recipe. You just need a little extra of one thing or another, and the cake will be absolutely perfect. That's how it was here with us. Along the way, we wrote down exactly what we do in different processes, says Kate Christensen, who can't help but smile broadly at the decision. There's a reason for that.

- Now everything is agreed. It also saves some conflicts, because everyone knows the right recipe. So all processes are done exactly as it is laid down in writing. It has also meant that we have almost no complaints. ISO 9001 has been a great benefit for us, says Kate Christensen.

It is also a process that never ends.

- Certification simply provides the opportunity for progressive improvement, concludes Jørgen Sørensen.
