HOLSTEBRO: It is easy to follow Holstebro Municipality's climate accounts.

All data is public and is available on a new website. And it is quite deliberate that the municipality has unveiled their green accounts:

- We have opened the door to the engine room to give citizens and businesses in the municipality the opportunity to see that we have much to be proud of when it comes to the green transition, says Karsten Filsø (SF), chairman of the Nature, Environment and Climate Committee. He adds:

- We also hope that this can give rise to good partnerships in areas where it is difficult to achieve the climate reduction targets. In all cases, we are pleased that we can share a data-based basis for good conversations about how we can best achieve the transition.

Specific themes and initiatives

On the new website, you can, among other things, delve into figures related to the four main themes "Energy", "Transport", "Agriculture and land use" and "Waste, wastewater and industrial processes".

The ambition is that user-friendly overviews and key figures make it easy to see the connection between greenhouse gas emissions and the municipality's specific efforts to reduce them.

For example, under the theme "Energy" you can see that the number of oil and gas boilers in the municipality is decreasing, and that in 2022 more green electricity was produced than was consumed. Therefore, parts of the green electricity were exported. The website also states that greenhouse gas emissions have been reduced since 1990 and that the trend continues in the right direction.

- With a special focus on transition in the energy sector, we have come a long way. But in the Nature, Environment and Climate Committee, we are also aware that it is the last part of the road that is the most difficult. Here everyone must contribute so that we as a society reach the goals, which will ultimately help mitigate climate change and, not least, prepare ourselves to thrive in a transitioned reality, says Karsten Filsø.
