GLADSAXE / COPENHAGEN: Sunday, September 18, Gladsaxe Municipality calls for a car-free Sunday.

"We hope that you and a lot of your fellow Gladsaxe citizens will leave the car parked this particular Sunday between 8 am and 8 pm and instead use another means of transport. Whether it's a bicycle, scooter or kangaroo stilt is up to you - as long as you leave the car parked. The goal is that we inspire each other to leave the car parked - every untraveled kilometer in a car is valuable. Sign up, leave the car parked and support the good cause!", says the municipality.

The background is further stated: "In 1973 and 74, the first car-free Sundays emerged as a response to the oil crisis. Now the municipality is focusing on the challenges that the increasing car traffic and the number of cars bring. This has major consequences for our city, health and climate when congestion, traffic noise, air pollution and CO2 emissions increase."
