Denmark's largest energy company, Andel Energi, is launching a new flexible energy solution that will make it cheaper and more stable to be an electricity customer. With a home battery, customers can buy electricity when prices are low and use it later - while also protecting themselves against power outages.
According to the company, electricity prices fluctuate significantly throughout the day, and especially in the evening hours between 5 and 9 p.m., prices are highest. With the new home battery, customers can charge electricity during the cheap hours and use it when prices peak.
- There is a lot of money to be saved by not buying electricity at all during the hours between 5 and 9 p.m. That is why Andel Energi is launching Home Batteries for private households today. This makes it possible to buy electricity when it is cheap, but still use it when you need it most. This provides a significant saving on the electricity bill for exactly the same consumption, says Marlene Holmgaard Fris, CEO of Andel Energi.
In the event of a power outage, the home battery can keep a household running for about a day with normal consumption – and up to three days if you save on electricity. At the same time, customers can earn money by making the battery available for balancing the electricity grid, where surplus electricity from the grid is stored in the battery.
- The need for balancing varies from month to month. But the cash gain will be offset against the customer's electricity bill each month as a cash reward. In this way, battery customers can both save and earn money on their battery, and our intelligent energy management of course ensures that you as a customer always have cheap electricity in stock for yourself,” says Marlene Holmgaard Fris.
Andel Energi estimates that customers can earn an average of a so-called Flex Gain of between DKK 1,000 and DKK 2,000 per year by helping to balance the electricity grid with the battery. The Flex Gain comes in addition to the savings that customers can achieve by buying electricity at the lowest electricity prices. The price for a home battery will be DKK 64,999.
