UPDATED: After 130 years in Denmark, the engineering company Siemens in Denmark will have a woman at the top. On October 1, Andrea Waenerlund will take over the position of CEO from Bjarne Lykke Sørensen, who has been with the company for 33 years and has been in the position since 2020. Andrea Waenerlund has been employed by Siemens for a year as head of the digital infrastructure department in Denmark and Norway.

- I am very proud that I can be a role model for other women. I have spent a lot of my career coaching women in the organization and ensuring their development, she tells Børsen.

In addition, she looks forward to rolling out technology that can help solve challenges such as green transition, she says.

- Our company plays a crucial role when we in Denmark are to digitize and automate our processes to meet the increasing need for a robust, safe and sustainable society, she says in a press release from the company.

Manager of over 6,000 employees

Siemens is a global technology company with a focus on electrification, automation and digitalization. The companies' activities are divided into a number of independent companies that operate under the Siemens brand.

In Denmark, Siemens employs approximately 6,300 employees, of which 1,500 are engineers. The company exports a double-digit billion each year, mainly wind turbines.

The outgoing CEO of the company in Denmark, Bjarne Lykke Sørensen, will instead enter the academic world as a teacher of students at the EU Business School from October 1. In the press release, CEO of Siemens in the Nordics Mikael Leksell thanks Bjarne Lykke Sørensen for his time in the company.

- We are grateful for the dedication and leadership that Bjarne has shown throughout his long career at Siemens, and we wish him all the best for the future, it says.
