Billion increase: The state expects to double revenue from CO2 quotas

The state's revenue from CO2 quotas is expected to be much larger than originally planned. This is reported by Energy Supply. According to information from the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Utilities, the state expects more than a doubling in the coming years.

In the current Finance Act, the Ministry of Finance had estimated that the state's revenue from CO2 quotas would amount to 4.5 billion kroner in 2027 and 2028. That estimate has now more than doubled. The latest expectations from the ministry indicate that the total revenue in the two years will reach 11.3 billion kroner, corresponding to an increase of over 150 percent.

According to the ministry, the reason is, among other things, a new system for CO2 quotas (ETS2), which expands CO2 quotas to also include, among other things, road transport and heating of buildings.
