A large CO2 capture plant is on its way to Esbjerg. The municipally owned waste incineration plant Energnist, together with the local company A2X, is planning to build a plant that will capture over 200,000 tons of CO2 annually from 2030. This is what JV.dk writes.

The project will be located at Energnist's facility in Måde and will be included in the state's CCS pool. Energnist and A2X expect to submit a final application at the end of 2025. According to Energnist, the overall project could create up to 500 jobs during the construction phase and around 20 permanent positions.

The collected CO2 will be transported in pipes to the Port of Esbjerg and from there sent in liquid form for permanent storage. According to Energnist, the project's location close to existing infrastructure is a decisive advantage.

- We are very pleased with the long collaboration we have had with A2X on this project. It is a milestone for Esbjerg's development as a center for CO2 capture and storage, says Energnist Chairman of the Board Kamma Eilschou Holm, who is also Chairman of the Board of Energnist.
