Danish companies can increase their competitiveness by allowing raw materials and materials to circulate further in the economy through reduced consumption, reuse of products and recycling of materials.
This is stated by the Danish Technological Institute in a press release.
- Circular economy is an inevitable part of future competitiveness. With circular solutions, you can reduce costs, open new markets and strengthen relationships with both customers and suppliers. It is crucial that Danish companies seize this opportunity so that they can stand strong in a world where the demand for sustainable solutions is growing. But many companies lack concrete tools and sparring to move forward. With this project, we are creating an important foundation to help companies realize these opportunities, says Anders Ziegler Kusk, program manager for Sustainable Production at the Danish Industry Foundation.
Danish companies still have a large untapped potential to develop their business in a more circular direction. Specifically, they can work on using fewer resources, extending the lifespan of products, offering repair and maintenance services, modernizing products, reusing components and recycling materials.
- We take the companies' needs as our starting point and help them create real changes in their daily operations. The courses are intensive and help them develop, test and implement new solutions in their business and production. The project is based on the overall business model, but we can also draw on specialists in material selection, setting up the production equipment or utilizing advanced digital technologies. It is about making it easy for companies to get business benefits from their investments in the green transition, says section manager at the Danish Technological Institute Emil Sunesen.
The project also focuses on creating systemic change in Danish business. Experiences and insights from the project will be used to influence the political framework conditions and strengthen the work with circular economy throughout the industry.
- Converting our companies to produce more circularly is crucial for us to continue to grow without simultaneously increasing resource consumption and the burden on our planet. The Circular Business Project will contribute to spreading knowledge about circular solutions to the entire production sector and at the same time give us insights into opportunities, barriers and challenges that can strengthen our political work to create better conditions for green transition, says industry director for DI Production Peter Trillingsgaard.
The project, which is a collaboration between the Danish Technological Institute, the Technical University of Denmark, the Alexandra Institute, DI Production, Danish Business Promotion, the Association of Mechanical Engineers, Fredericia Mechanical Engineering School, Aarhus Mechanical Engineering School and international partners from Ireland and the Netherlands, is supported by the Danish Industry Foundation with 14 million. DKK and runs from 2025 to 2027.
