BORNHOLM Denmark has a goal of quadrupling the amount of renewable energy on land. This will be done, among other things, via state-owned energy parks. Municipalities can bid for areas that they believe are suitable. And in 2024 and 2025, the state has made it more advantageous for municipalities and neighbors who want to come to the energy parks.
The government has temporarily relaxed the Planning Act, and also adopted improved conditions for neighbors and local communities, which will increase the financial gain if they provide land for an energy park. On Bornholm, the municipal council is faced with having to make a decision on whether to investigate whether the municipality can bring areas into play for the energy parks. This opportunity should not be missed, because the current favorable conditions will not come again, according to Bornholms Tidende from local member of parliament Lea Wermelin (S), who until recently was her party's energy spokesman.
- It is also about the signal that is being sent from Bornholm. Does Bornholm want to say that we do not want to proceed with the opportunity that the state is now giving? If Bornholm does not want it, why should Christiansborg reopen an agreement that has already been reopened once for the benefit of Bornholm? Lea Wermelin tells the newspaper. She emphasizes that Bornholm does not say yes to an energy park, simply by investigating whether there are suitable areas.
