The director of Vejle Erhvervshavn, 72-year-old Knud Vang Nielsen, has resigned from his position and will step down this summer. He wants to retire after a long working life, during which he has held management positions within port operations in both Denmark and Norway. This is reported by Vejle Amts Folkeblad.
- I have been very happy with the job as port director, the good cooperation with the board, the municipality, the port's customers and the daily tasks. But I feel that the time has now come to prioritize an active retirement, says Knud Vang Nielsen in a press release from Vejle Municipality, which owns the port.
Throughout his years in Vejle, Knud Vang Nielsen has ensured stable financial operations and helped create the foundation for a modern commercial port. Chairman of the board Torben Elsig-Pedersen praises his efforts and highlights his integrity and leadership.
The municipally owned port had a profit of 30.4 million DKK in 2023, while the accounts for 2024 have not yet been published. An important task for the incoming director will be to complete the transformation of Sydkajen, which over time will be transformed into an urban, residential and university area.
