There are more and more electric cars on Danish roads. According to Mobility Denmark, 200,000 electric cars have been added in just over a year, so there are now half a million electric cars in Denmark. The organization writes this in a press release based on figures from bilstatistik.dk.

- The milestone illustrates that there has been great interest in promoting the green transition from the political side, while consumers also have a good appetite for choosing green, says Mads Rørvig, CEO of Mobility Denmark, in the press release.

The car owners' organization FDM writes in a press release that almost every sixth car on the road is now an electric car. Stina Glavind, CEO of FDM, points to the favorable tax terms and falling prices as part of the reason for the great interest in electric cars.

In next year's finance law, which was presented on Thursday, it was decided to postpone the increase in taxes on electric cars by one year. The postponement is expected to cost 1.3 billion kroner. Mads Rørvig sees the Finance Act agreement as a victory for the green transition.

- It is positive that the parties to the agreement behind the Finance Act have prioritized maintaining the development by ensuring that the electric car remains an economically attractive choice. This results in there being close to a million electric cars in Denmark, he says.

According to FDM, 100,000 electric cars have been added since April this year alone. The organization points out that there are both more people buying a new electric car, but also that there has been an increase in imports of newer and used electric cars from abroad.

- There is enormous interest in electric cars. We experience this in our consultancy, and we work to ensure that as many people as possible can easily and safely switch to electric cars, says Stina Glavind.

FDM previously had a goal of one million electric cars on Danish roads by 2030. This will now be adjusted to one and a half million, it says.
