American royal number clearly exceeds expectations

Job creation in the US is much higher than expected, but the tariff war will test the development.

American job creation in March was far above expectations. 228,000 new jobs were created outside of agriculture in the United States, which is significantly higher than economists' estimates. This is according to figures from the US government published on Friday.

For example, economists surveyed by the Reuters news agency had expected an average of around 135,000 new jobs. But in the coming months, the unexpectedly high job creation could be put to a serious test, according to several economists.

This is because Trump has launched a trade war with "the rest of the world" with significant tariff increases, says Allan Sørensen, chief economist at the Confederation of Danish Industry.

- I expect that we will see a number of jobs reports that look significantly weaker than today's, says Allan Sørensen in a written comment.
