The Technical University of Denmark ended 2024 with a profit of one million DKK and a turnover of over 6.5 billion DKK. This is what DTU writes. According to university director Claus Nielsen, the result is an expression of responsible financial management and good use of the available funds.
- I see the fact that we ended up so close to zero as an expression that we have gotten the most out of the funds we have had available. In 2024, we once again managed to strengthen the university's ability to conduct excellent research, while offering world-class engineering educations, says Claus Nielsen, CEO of DTU.
2024 was also a good year at DTU in terms of parameters other than the financial one. For the second year in a row, the university was named the best technical university in the EU, Switzerland and Norway by EngiRank. At the same time, DTU was among the four universities in the EU that received the most research funds from the union. DTU received more than one and a half billion kroner from the Horizon Europe program alone in 2024.
. Rankings are not a goal in themselves, but first place gives an indication that we are succeeding with our very clear focus on offering Europe's best engineering education and creating the best possible conditions for excellent research and innovation in collaboration with business and public authorities, says Claus Nielsen.
2024 also saw the launch of several new research centers, including the Climate Challenge Laboratory and the Danish Chips Competence Center. In addition, the biotech initiative BRIGHT was announced with support of 1 billion kroner from the Novo Nordisk Foundation. BRIGHT is intended to accelerate the development of biologically based products and contribute to the green transition.
