CIP now becomes a co-owner of Stiesdal Offshore. As part of a new partnership between the parties, which aims to "establish Stiesdal Offshore as a long-term leader in floating wind energy", CIP has purchased a minority stake in Stiesdal Offshore via the Copenhagen Infrastructure V fund for an undisclosed amount.

With the investment and partnership, Stiesdal will also expand its business model from the current one, where the focus is exclusively on the development of floating foundations for offshore wind turbines, to also become a total supplier within floating wind energy. This includes offering owner engineering services as well as comprehensive project support and implementation by actively engaging with customers on all aspects of floating wind projects.

"The goal is to help customers reduce project costs and complexity and accelerate the development of floating offshore wind," says a press release from Stiesdal Offshore.

- The right partnership is crucial for us and I am very pleased to welcome CIP, says Peder Nickelsen, CEO of Stiesdal Offshore. He continues:

- We have a clear plan to reduce CAPEX for floating wind and have developed more than 30 specific initiatives to achieve this goal. This investment will enable us to accelerate these efforts and strengthen our market position as we prepare for large-scale commercial deployment of floating offshore wind in the coming years.

Floating offshore wind is expected to grow significantly between 2030 and 2040, and according to the International Energy Agency (IEA), it has the potential to increase global offshore wind resources tenfold. That is why there is also great faith in the technology and Stiesdal Offshore at CIP.

- We remain committed to floating offshore wind, which we believe will play an important role in the global energy transition. This investment is a next step in our efforts to develop large-scale floating wind projects, and together with Stiesdal Offshore we look forward to advancing floating wind technology, project execution and cost reduction, says Michael Hannibal, Partner at CIP.
