The number of complaints against energy companies has increased significantly at the Energy Appeals Board. In 2025, the board received a total of 556 complaints, which is almost twice as many as the year before. Of the complaints, 241 concerned the electricity companies Velkommen and Nettopower, which share ownership. According to the appeals board, a large part of the cases concern non-payment of customers' receivables, among other things as a result of excessive on-account charges. This is reported by TV 2, which has been given access to an annual report that has not yet been published.
According to the appeals board, the majority of them concern non-payment of receivables. Several customers have had significant amounts on their balances for a long time before the money was paid out. TV 2 has been in dialogue with both current and former customers who have had thousands of kroner in their credit with the companies, and where payment has only been made after repeated inquiries. Co-owner of Velkommen and Nettopower, Lars Hein, comments on the figures from the appeal board and points to internal challenges in the companies.
- It is a figure that we take very seriously and that we are not proud of. 2025 has been a year of strong growth, and we must acknowledge that our administrative systems have unfortunately not been able to keep up with the pace, he says and indicates that the companies are working to improve the handling of customers and payments, after the number of complaints has increased significantly during the year.
