The government will remove the requirement that municipalities must establish separate companies to install solar cells on public buildings. According to Minister of Climate, Energy and Utilities Lars Aagaard (M), the rules have stood in the way of the green transition, and now it must be made easier to utilize the large roofs of schools, halls and other municipal buildings.
The municipalities are pleased with the change in rules. In Sønderborg, Mayor Erik Lauritzen (S) points out that solar cells on municipal buildings primarily have signal value. And in Rudersdal Municipality, Chairman of the Environment and Technology Committee, Court Møller (R), calls the change crucial for the municipality's climate action plan, which includes solar cells on 12 percent of municipal roofs.
- That change will significantly improve the business case. We have already received technical information about that. If the rules change, we are ready to roll out solar cells on our roofs. Without the rule changes, we cannot achieve our goals in the climate action plan, says Court Møller to Danske Kommuner.
