Sorø Municipality is facing an increase in green electricity production, with planned solar parks expected to multiply the current capacity from 8 to 256 MWp. This step towards a greener future involves the construction of massive solar plants, which will make the municipality's electricity supply completely sustainable. Simon Schou Jakobsen, head of planning and construction in the municipality, emphasizes the importance of also taking the local community into account by ensuring that the solar panels do not spoil the landscape. In addition to the major investment in solar energy, Sorø Municipality aims to address the challenges of agricultural CO2 emissions, especially from low-lying soils. The municipality is entering into voluntary agreements with landowners to reduce intensive management of these areas, which is a significant factor in Denmark's goal of CO2 neutrality by 2050. Jannik Rauer, head of the center for technology, environment and operations, highlights a planned meeting that will inform landowners about opportunities and support schemes for the extraction of low-lying soils.

Although the focus is on green transition and CO2 reduction, Sorø Municipality recognizes the many challenges that lie ahead. Future solutions include a transition to electric cars and further initiatives within sustainable agriculture and infrastructure.

- Things are really good. We are in a very good position in relation to approved renewable energy plants, says Bo Christensen, chairman of Sorø Municipality's nature, technology and planning committee.
