In 2024, DTU cemented its position as the university in Denmark that creates the most new companies based on research and patents. Last year, 14 spinout companies were established based on DTU inventions. The university announced this in a press release.

DTU President Anders Bjarklev is pleased with the development, which is a result of DTU's investment in research and innovation over many years.

- The 14 spinout companies are the pinnacle of powerful innovation in the entire DTU ecosystem. It is a very welcome development - and it is necessary in a new global world order, where universities need to strengthen their innovative power and competitiveness in a stronger Europe, he says.

According to the Ministry of Higher Education and Research's commercialization statistics, DTU accounted for half of the total of 29 unique spinouts from Danish universities last year. This is 10 more than in 2023 and thus surpasses the previous record from 2019.

DTU also registered 114 inventions, filed 60 patent applications and entered into 36 license, sales and option agreements in 2024. The university is currently working on over 200 commercialization projects across different technology areas.
