DIN Forsyning receives the District Heating Award 2025

The winner of the District Heating Award 2025 is DIN Forsyning A/S, which with its large plant at the port of Esbjerg is helping to put Danish district heating on the map worldwide.

DIN Forsyning A/S received the District Heating Award 2025 on Thursday evening at the Danish District Heating Association's national meeting in Odense Congress Center. And the award brought great joy to Business Development Manager Claus A. Nielsen:

It's fantastic. We spent the first two years changing legislation regarding cogeneration requirements. So to be standing here is absolutely amazing.

The utility company was honored for the project District Heating of the Future at Esbjerg Harbour, where several technologies are combined in a single plant with district heating as the focal point. The plant is seen as an important step in Esbjerg's green transition and as an example that can inspire other European countries in the transition away from gas and coal.

In the nomination, DIN Forsyning was highlighted for its modular design, where the production units function as building blocks that can be moved, scaled and replaced. This makes the plant flexible and future-proof in line with new technological possibilities.

In his justification, Danish District Heating's director, Kim Mortensen, highlights the company's efforts to drive the sector in a greener direction:

- It is an impressive transition that DIN Forsyning has undergone. And it is important for the green transition away from fossil fuels. Therefore, it is fully deserved that they win the District Heating Award 2025.

Vestforbrænding and Envafors were also nominated for this year's award.
