A new solar cell plant of 46 hectares is on the drawing board at Billeskov Gods in Assens Municipality. Behind the project is Count Bendt Tido Hannibal Wedell, who owns the Wedellsborg and Frijsenborg estates, and one of Denmark's largest landowners. This is reported by Fyens.dk.
The plant, which is planned to produce 49,450 MWh annually, has already received the municipality's approval as a suitable area. The Environment, Technology and Planning Committee will now decide on the application, which also includes 23 hectares of green areas with grasslands, dog parks and paths.
The project has been through an extensive local process with citizen meetings and working groups. Of the 309 affected citizens and 55 companies, 12 have submitted consultation responses, including Odense City Museums and Kerte and Omegns Vandværk. With an expected price of approximately 200 million DKK and a planned panel height of a maximum of four meters, the project appears to be able to contribute significantly to the green transition in the municipality.
