The Port of Rønne has received the formal handover of the latest port expansion from the contractor MT Højgaard Danmark. This means that the overall expansion, which has been ongoing for several years, is complete. The port announced this in a statement.
The expansion includes new quay facilities, greater depth and modern infrastructure, which makes the port ready to handle future ships, cargo and, not least, offshore and energy activities in the Baltic Sea.
- With the new port, Bornholm is stronger than ever. It secures supply, creates jobs and places us in the middle of green development in the Baltic Sea. This is a project that the entire island can be proud of, says Mayor Jacob Trøst (K)
The project has been carried out in collaboration between Rønne Havn A/S, the consultants from NIRAS, the contractor MT Højgaard Danmark, Bornholm Regional Municipality and a number of authorities and suppliers. The work has been carried out while the port has been in operation, and is intended to strengthen Bornholm's position as a central player in the Baltic Sea's energy infrastructure.
- We now have a port that can accommodate the energy, business and collaboration of the future - and which is tested, proven and ready to meet Bornholm's future needs, says Lars Nordahl, CEO of Rønne Port.
