Earlier this week, EUDP announced that it had allocated 403 million DKK to 40 new energy technology projects that will contribute to meeting Denmark's climate and energy policy goals. But those who missed out in the last round will have another opportunity. EUDP is now opening another round of applications.

- The quality of the applications has been high in 2024 - and we at EUDP's board are happy to be able to push so many promising projects forward. It is our hope that 2025 will also offer many strong applications, so that we can develop and demonstrate even more significant green energy technologies, says Kim Lehmann, chair of EUDP's board.

This time, 300 million DKK is being offered for the development and demonstration of all types of innovative energy projects. Of the pool, 60 million DKK is targeted for projects within the development and demonstration of electricity storage. In addition to the general pool, the special pool for Smart Energy and Digitalization (DKK 24.75 million) and the North Sea pool (DKK 22.6 million) are offered. These are targeted at new technological solutions and tools within Smart Energy, digitalization, and increased data use in the energy sector, and demonstration projects with associated research that can contribute to a more environmentally friendly and energy-efficient production of oil and gas.

New strategic focus

In 2024, the EUDP board revised the program's strategy with a view to ensuring a continued relevant focus that takes into account the current technological reality.

The technological cornerstone of the strategy remains electrification and sector coupling in order to best utilize Denmark's large resources within renewable energy while ensuring security of supply and energy efficiency.

With this starting point, the strategy now points to the following seven focus areas that are considered central to achieving the national climate goals: 'Green electricity', 'Sustainable biomass, biogas and pyrolysis', 'Energy efficiency', 'Power-to-X', 'Heat and heat storage', 'Flexible electricity use and digitalisation', 'CO2 capture, utilisation and storage'.

However, the EUDP emphasises that the programme does not exclude applications that fall outside the focus areas. "If the idea is good and the project meets EUDP's assessment criteria, the project can still receive funding."

- If you are in doubt about whether your project fits into EUDP, do not hesitate to reach out to the EUDP secretariat for guidance within the programme's framework. We would like to see as many qualified applications as possible, says Kim Lehmann, chair of the EUDP board.

The application deadline for this round of EUDP funds is 3 March 2025.
