EUDP has once again provided a large amount of millions to companies and universities to develop and demonstrate new, green energy technologies. In total, 40 projects have received support of 403 million. DKK. This is stated by the Danish Energy Agency in a press release.
- It is great that there are so many new technology projects that have come forward this time. I am pleased that a number of them are now getting a hand in further development, because we need green technologies in the transformation of Denmark. It is green action that works, says Minister for Climate, Energy and Utilities Lars Aagaard.
Although 403 million. DKK may sound like a lot of money, but the desire was even greater. In the spring, EUDP received a total of 96 applications, which together applied for just over a billion DKK – a somewhat higher amount than is normally applied for in the program.
The EUDP board therefore also decided to increase the offer so that as many of the many promising projects as possible could be launched. This was possible because there were surplus funds in previous rounds, and because some previously EUDP-supported projects have not used up their full grant. This means that approximately 40 percent of the applied for support will be implemented, and almost 42 percent of the applicants can look forward to receiving a share of the many green millions.
- It was great to see so many strong applications this round. We on the board are therefore very happy that there has been a little extra in the coffers, so that we could award even more grants than we had expected, now that there were so many promising project applications. It is absolutely important that we get the money out and working in society for the benefit of both growth and green transition, says Kim Lehmann, chair of the EUDP board.
Among the projects that have received support is the NH3 Spark project, which has received 31 million DKK to rebuild, test and operate a 4-stroke marine engine that will operate on green ammonia (NH3) – without the need for other auxiliary fuel – and in this way help to displace fossil fuels in the maritime sector. MAN Energy Solutions, DTU Construct and Skovgaard Energy are partners in the project.
- We are extremely proud to be part of such an innovative project, where we can continue the journey at the REDDAP site in Ramme, says Pat A Han, CTO of Skovgaard Energy.
With the 403 million DKK just disbursed DKK., a total of 610 million DKK has been distributed from EUDP in 2024 – of which 521 million DKK from this year's Finance Act appropriation. Since its establishment in 2007, EUDP has supported over 1,200 innovative projects and distributed more than 6.2 billion DKK.
